the shift’s kicking in.

finals are done. practicals wrap this sunday. in a few days, i’ll be in a new semester, but right now, i’ve got this rare stretch of time—one week of no classes, no exams, just space. and i’m using it to shift gears back into sagea full force.
it’s weird how much you can get done when the background noise shuts off. i’ve been running between classes and shipping things since march, and rn it finally feels like i can breathe, zoom out a bit, and go heads-down on what really matters.
also, v1 has gotten better in ways we didn’t even expect. i still cant believe we have managed to create an architecture this efficient. it still feels kinda like a dream. me and firoj have been consistently trying and trying to make it even better. also, a lot of under-the-hood upgrades—token efficiency, output consistency, speed improvements, better intonation and speech controls, and improvements on our vps infra. it’s still 1.6b, but it feels like it matured a level. we’ve been refining it while also laying the groundwork for something that’s less about scale and more about structure. i won’t say too much now, but let’s just say our definition of intelligence is evolving—slightly, slowly, but intentionally.
we’re also building the research backend. till now, most of what we’ve done has stayed in our heads, in chat logs, or inside jupyter notebooks no one ever opened twice. that’s changing. we’re setting up a clean internal stack to start writing actual papers, proper ones. so that the ideas behind vora and what’s coming next don’t just get built—they get shared. sagea isn’t just about models, it’s about thinking differently about how we build intelligence. and that deserves words, not just weights.
then there’s the api platform. that’s our next major milestone. we’ve always talked about putting our models in the hands of builders, but this time we’re doing it right. proper tokens, latency that doesn’t embarrass us, easy onboarding. it’s not just for devs either—it’s meant to make our work usable, not just “available.” right now it’s early-stage, but we’re moving fast. there’s something exciting about finally making it real for people outside our circle. me and ujjwal have been actively building it. and we have a lot of ideas that need to take a proper mold for the platform to be ready.
on the funding side, yeah, we’re still pre-seed. no flashy logos yet. no pitch decks that scream “we’re the next openai” or whatever. just raw conviction and shipped proof. it’s a little frustrating some days, ngl. but i’m not stressed. not really. the way i see it, the work speaks louder every week, and the right partners will find their way to us when we’re undeniable. i’m betting on the momentum.
sagea is growing in its own way. more focused. more intentional. what started as us hacking on a small model now feels like a proper move toward something deeper. we’re still far from where we want to be, but i can see the path more clearly now. there’s something in the air—something reasoning, something alive—and we’re building toward it, line by line.
for now, it’s just us, some servers, and the time before the semester hits again. and honestly, that’s all i need.
